Everyone remember the game Pokemon Go back when it thrived in 2016? I’m sure most people don’t know that it is still alive!
The only reason I know that it’s still working is because I still play it. Even in quarantine. Last week I hit a breaking point and I walked out of the house, onto the local highway to the nearest Pokestop. Many cars passed by and it felt so nice to be outside and only hear the roar of wind and engines instead of my family arguing over something stupid. I took my time getting there, taking the longest way I could, going through another neighborhood, going around the shortcuts, going over the newly built bridge.
When I finally got there, I took my sweet time. There was no one around so I cherished the solitude. Collecting Pokemon, spinning the stops, putting my Pokemon in the gym while my cheeks and hands froze.
I was outside at a graveyard where the Pokestops were for two hours before I decided to walk home. It was such a glorious day that curbed my cabin fever and my unused muscles were sore the next day. I will definitely do it again before the month ends.
I’ve listened to this song over thirty times in the past five days. I want to get out of my house and go everywhere. Whether it be walking, running, riding some sort of transportation, I want to explore and go where it’s far away from being inside my house.
The song is upbeat with good drums and easy to dance to and shout along with. The lyrics aren’t complicated but they flow right off the tongue. When I do finally get out of this quarantine, I am going to drive to nowhere with this song blasting.
So I just recently watched the movie Parasite and it was one of the most amazing films I have ever watched. There was such a natural tension in certain scenes the American cinema has not been able to achieve in the last couple of decades. I was really impressed by the actors and actresses and how real the movie felt.
One scene in particular that I could relate to on a disturbing point was at the son’s birthday party, when the hermit came out and started killing the family. I’m getting a bit stir crazy myself and my family have been poking and prodding, pushing me to my limit. In recent days, I have been overwhelmed by them and just want to smack them around. I relate to the hermit’s snap at that scene in the movie. This Clip shows what I mean.
I have been going down different rabbit holes lately of people who are not comfortable with their body so they spent A LOT of money to change their features. Some want to look like dolls and others into different races, the amount of plastic surgery these people have astounds me. They do not look human at this point because of so many changes they have made to their features. It is impressive and shocking to see the changes.
One guy I found named Oli London wants to look like a K-Pop star so he has changed his face to do his best to look like him. He has put in thousands of dollars to change his face to be his idol.
A more known one is a woman who wants to be a dragon. Her entire body is covered in tattoos and horns on her head.
Those were just some of the people I have been looking at. The time and dedication put into this is impressive. I just hope they are happy with their outcomes.
This documentary was made by the well-known Werner Herzog, who is known for making very well put together films. He did not fail with this film either.
When I first started watching the documentary, Grizzly Man, I thought it was a mockumentary because Timothy Treadwell had a similar look to Steve Irwin while being high energy and very intense love for animals that seems a bit unhealthy. I was unaware that this man every existed and was wildly popular in the 90s and early 2000s.
The documentary goes into detail about how Treadwell loved the animals he lived with as well as some details about his personal life. The film mainly focused on the work Treadwell did out in the Wilderness of Alaska. It emphasized on how close this man got to nature, especially dangerous bears where the government tries to regulate the closeness between humans and bears. The limit the government set is about a mile, Treadwell ignored the law and got within reaching distance of the bears. This was shown multiple times throughout the film where Treadwell would have the bears walk up to him and he walking up to the bears like someone would with their pet or introvert friend.
Herzog also brings in other people who knew Treadwell, family, friends, and people who worked with him. They tell their relationship with him and talked about what they thought about him. The way they were talking about him made it feel like he was still alive. Not knowing anything about this man beforehand, I thought that he was still alive until they mentioned it about fifteen minutes into the film. Which I find out he was eaten by a hungry bear with his girlfriend.
While I knew nothing about Treadwell and his work before watching the film, I think Herzog did a wonderful job of describing what Treadwell did and who he was as a person. Starting with the good parts of Treadwell and the basics that everyone should know then slowly getting into who he was as a person, showing his flaws after the good work he did. Herzog made this man human instead of a saint that he tried to make himself into in the media. Where nature was the only place where Treadwell felt at home and loved. Making friends with other species when he couldn’t connect with his own.
The Grizzly Man in the end was a well-made film with good sources and interesting content that keeps the viewer interested. I would recommend watching it on a rainy day.
Since I am in quarantine with the rest of the world, I thought I might go down some rabbit holes of some things people are going through. I learned about different cultures, how most of the world is staying inside while few countries are going about their daily lives, the usual things. Then, I stumbled across a YouTuber who conducts interviews with different people who live in usually misconstrued worlds. His name is Anthony Padilla and I recently watched a video of his on D.I.D., otherwise known as Dissosociative Identity Disorder.
Apparently the disorder comes from heavy childhood trauma to where the brain protects itself by splitting itself up into different people that would be able to handle the situation that the child is in. I got curious and explored more into it because I thought it was fascinating that multiple people can live inside of one body. Although it does come from trauma, which is very unfortunate, I think the people who do have it should be proud of themselves for coming this far.
One of the people interviewed on Padilla’s show, was a system named Dissociadid. I went to their YouTube channel and learned more about D.I.D. there. They were very interesting and wonderful all around. I highly encourage checking them out because the disorder is very interesting and there is a lot of misunderstanding about the whole “multiple personality” disorder. I think we just need to understand each other better and need to keep an open mind.
What happens when you are forced to continuously write for a period of five minutes? It is a continuous stream of thought with many errors. You think about what is on your mind for the day, the current struggle, things that in hindsight, don’t matter as much. And if you write for five minutes continuously without checking what you are actually writing down, it looks like a mad lib for a five year old with the poor spelling and grammar.
It is also quite amusing listening to the people around. The people talking, arguing, moving around. It is quite amusing listening to life going on around you while being in plain sight. It’s like a one way mirror for people watching. As long as you don’t make too much of a scene, you can make whatever face you want and no one will notice.
Documentaries are known very well for this form of sounds. Voices that are pleasing to the ear explain the wonders of the universe. Narration is most beloved when created by well known, soothing actor’s voices.
Narration has also evolved into something else, using the soothing sounds of narration and putting people at ease with just the sound alone. This is more popularly known as ASMR. Something to put everyone asleep when they need it.
This man had his entire life randomized so he could experience every bit of life there is out there. Using an algorithm to decide how your life will turn out is certainly interesting and I admire the effect it has on his life but that is not something every can do. He is given the option to do this because he has such a secure job and a willingness to try everything.
The effect it seems to have on him is making him more open to the world around him. He can see everything he can and experience many things by just scratching the surface. It is a cool way to enjoy life.
Photoshop is the best tool to use o bring the impossible to life. You can edit two different kinds of animals into one and make it look like something that would naturally occur in the wild. Or you can edit in a dead relative to a family photo to show that they are still with you in daily life.
There is also the different kinds of places to put Photoshop, like on celebration cakes or on shirts that you could wear until the picture wear out. It is a popular and easy to use program, where the only limit is the user’s imagination
